House Painters in Waverly, Nebraska
Waverly took its name from a Walter Scott novel, and a few of its streets did too. Its houses arrived in bursts — a railroad town, a rush after the interstate, then a long modern run — each leaving a different paint problem.
The honest part first: there’s no finished Waverly job in our portfolio. Our completed work sits east of here around Ashland, with a few houses over in Omaha. What we do know is what’s standing on your street, because Waverly’s growth reads straight off the houses.
Built in bursts, with one gap
The original townsite was platted in 1870, when the Burlington railroad reached it, and it stayed small for most of a century after that. Then I-80 opened between Lincoln and Omaha in August 1961, Waverly turned into a commuter town, and more homes went up around here in the 1960s than in any decade before it. The 1980s barely register next to the decades on either side. Building picked up again in the ’90s and never really stopped, and the 2010s put up more than any decade before them.
Four eras, four different jobs
In the old core it’s wood siding and wood trim under a long paint history, and prep is most of the work. What’s under the last coat decides how the next one holds. Our three-year warranty covers labor and materials, which really makes it a warranty on the prep.
The ’60s and ’70s houses have been repainted two or three times by now. Soffits, fascia and window trim are where it starts, and by the third round the question is how much of the old film is still stuck down.
The ’90s and 2000s houses have mostly become an indoor problem: honey oak, beige, and kitchens where somebody wants the cabinets a different color. Cabinets are their own trade and we do them. Decks and fences from those years are usually due for stain again.
The newest subdivisions sit on the north edge and out along 148th Street — ten-year-old caulk joints, first repaints, and a lot of builder-flat white nobody actually chose.
We’re twenty minutes east on Highway 6, in Ashland — family-owned since 1981, and every painter who shows up draws a paycheck from us rather than a sub. 402.521.5800 gets somebody out to measure, and the written quote we leave behind carries no obligation. Twelve miles isn’t far to drive to look at a house, and it isn’t far to drive back.
