House Painters in Bennington, Nebraska

Bennington is a town where most of the houses are newer than the trees. That changes what a paint job is here: less peeling clapboard, more builder-flat that never washed right and a kitchen full of stained maple.

Most of what gets called Bennington sits outside Bennington. The city counted 1,458 people in the 2010 census and 2,026 in 2020, and the additions carrying its name and its schools — Anchor Pointe, Pine Creek, Heritage, Newport Vista, Majestic Pointe — have kept building past the city limits ever since. If the mail says Bennington, the house is probably young. We haven’t painted one of them yet, and nothing in Bennington — new end or old — is on our finished list.

New construction ages in its own order

Outside, the siding is rarely what needs paint on a house this age. The trim, fascia, shutters, front door, garage doors and accent gables are, and those few surfaces decide how the house reads. Out at Newport Landing the open water gives the wind a clear run at whatever faces it; the lake-house exterior we painted at Sandy Pointe answers to the same weather. Decks and cedar fences are a cycle out here, not a one-time job.

Inside, the usual call is builder paint that never earned its keep. It goes on thin and flat, one color from the entry to the back bedroom, so it scuffs, it won’t wash, and touch-up flashes. Repainting an ‘08 or a ‘16 build is mostly about putting a real finish on walls that never had one. The other is the kitchen — stained maple boxes that are perfectly sound, painted instead of brown. Two-story entries and open stairwells come with the territory; ceilings and trim up there are a different job from a spare bedroom.

Then there are the numbered streets

Downtown is the original townsite, platted in 1887 when the place was still called Bunz Town and later renamed after Bennington, Vermont. Frame houses, real wood trim, and enough coats behind them that prep takes longer than painting. Same town name, entirely different week of work.

We’re about 35 miles off, call it forty minutes up Highway 31 through Elkhorn. The black-cabinet kitchen we did in Omaha is the same box-and-door work a cabinet call out here turns into, and anything tall on the outside of a house gets done off the boom lift. Painting since 1981, second generation, our own W-2 painters rather than subcontractors. 402.521.5800 gets you a free written quote, no obligation.
